In 2006, CVFT founded “New Production Workshop” to help promote original works by local authors. Our goal is to nurture budding playwrights from within the community, and give them the support and infrastructure necessary to stage their work.

The Writers Playground!

Writers, we want you!  Join us for once-a-month meetings where we’ll dive to the depths of chaos and soar on the sequined wings of catharsis.

CVFT’s New Production Workshop presents The Writer’s Playground, a totally free and totally freeing opportunity for scriptwriters of all ages and experience-levels. The Writer’s Playground invites you and your script to come along and hear your words read aloud in a comfortable, informal setting.  We’ll discuss the basics of script writing, help each other tweak plays that are further along and learn, learn, learn from each other as we all embark on the exciting adventure that is new play actualization.

The Writer’s Playground is open to everyone interested in the process of new play production. Not a writer?  No problem!  Come and read the words of your comrades and help a new play grow and flourish.

What: The Writer’s Playground, a reading and writing workshop for scriptwriters and lovers of theater.

Who: You, there, with that amazing idea for a new play. And you, whose masterpiece itches for the bright lights. And you, too, actors, directors, dramaturges and producers, who love to hear and help the brilliance of your compatriots.
